Current Research
Our current main objective is to support local research into PREVENTING bowel cancer. It is VITAL that methods of PREVENTION are developed.
- Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK.
- The North East of Scotland has the highest incidence of bowel cancer in both men and women in the UK.
- Approximately 320 new bowel cancers are diagnosed each year in the Grampian area.
- Despite modern treatment only 50% of patients will survive for five years.
Cranes have pledged £100,000 over the next two years to help fund a major new study to establish whether certain foodstuffs can have a PREVENTATIVE EFFECT on bowel cancer death in the UK.
